Owensboro walked off Apollo, while Hancock County and Owensboro Catholic both lost.

Owensboro 7, Apollo 6

Trailing 6-5 entering the bottom of the seventh, Owensboro’s Kaysi Burden hit an RBI double to walk off Apollo 7-6. Burden went 3-4 with three RBIs, while Ayrish Barksdale and Hayley Sikes both had three hits. Alyssa Rhineburger threw a complete game, allowing one earned run over seven innings, striking out three.

“This was a great win for the girls,” Owensboro head coach Quincy Moorman said. “It was our first win against Apollo since April 2006. The girls played well once we settled in and started playing like we are capable of. After the first couple of innings, we eliminated the errors and played clean softball. We started to put the barrel to the ball and string hits together.”

For Apollo, Arianna Ramirez went 3-4 with two RBIs, while Isabella Feldpausch was 2-4 with an RBI. Mollie Julian started in the circle, allowing seven runs over 6 2/3 innings, striking out nine.

“We didn’t execute well” Apollo head coach Stephen Julian said. ‘They did a good job of putting the from ball in play that found a hole. But we were a batted ball or two away where they made a nice plate, that if it falls,, it is a different game. It was a fun game to coach in and hopefully improve from.”

Castle (Newburgh), IN 20, Hancock County 0

The Lady Hornets never fully got going, losing to Castle 20-0. Audrey Carnes went 1-1 with a walk, while Aubree Mosby finished 1-2. Bella Bryant started in the circle, while Ryleigh French and Jordyn Waltrip both pitched out of the bullpen.

Madisonville-North Hopkins 9, Owensboro Catholic 2

Harper Latham went 1-2 with an RBI in the Lady Aces’ 9-2 loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins. Carley Brey, Lily Logsdon, Hannah Tignor, and Tyranda Stuart had four of the team’s five hits. Railey Scott started in the circle and allowed three earned runs over 3 1/3 innings, while Abi Murphy pitched in relief.
