Competing in the David Taylor CDJR Dinger Wood Bat Classic, Daviess County finished 1-1 after losing to Graves County 2-0 and beating Murray County 5-2.
In their opener against Graves County, Brett Poole allowed two earned runs over six innings, striking out three. The offense never found itself, with Cameron Rickard and Noah Ranburger recording the team’s only hits. Mason Russelburg was the only other baserunner who had drawn a walk.
In the second game of their doubleheader, the Panthers’ Sean Page drove in two runs in their 5-2 win over Murray. Logan Mewes went 1-3 with an RBI, while Mason Russelburg went 2-2. Ben Watkins started on the mound, allowing two unearned runs over five innings, striking out five. Nolan Johnson pitched out of the bullpen, throwing two perfect innings.
