The Aces shutout Daviess County in an important 9th district match, while McLean County, Owensboro, and Trinity (Whitesville) all won. In other action, the Hornets fell at home.

Owensboro Catholic 2, Daviess County 0

Luke Quinn, Lane Hundley, and Gentry Atwell threw a combined shutout to beat Daviess County 2-0. Mason Moser went 2-4, while Reece Sims and Brady Atwell both had hits. Jaxson White hit a two-run double in the top of the second to drive in the team’s only runs.

“It was a well pitched high school game on both sides,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Jody Hamilton said. “I like how we competed. We had some good at bats throughout, but could have used a few more with runners in scoring position. It is good to get a district win.”

For the Panthers, Logan Mewes had the team’s lone hit, while Lucas Ward, Sean Page, and Noah Ranburger all walked. Brodie Tucker started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over four innings, while Weston Lawrence and Cameron Rickard pitched out of the bullpen.

“We obviously struggled at the plate, but their pitchers did a great job of mixing and causing a lot of uncomfortable swings,” Daviess County head coach Austin Clay said.

Breckinridge County, 7, Hancock County 0

The Hornets’ offense never found its stride, falling to Breckinridge County 7-0. Jack Roberts and Dylan Mucker had the team’s only hits. Dec Lewko started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over six innings, striking out seven, while Noah Keown pitched the seventh.

McLean County 6, Webster County 2

Layden Bozarth and Houston Whitaker drove in five of the Cougars’ six runs in their 6-2 win over Webster County. Ayden Rice and Jax Lee both had hits, while Corbin Martin drove in a run. Jaelin Groves threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs over seven innings, striking out six.

Owensboro , Madisonville-North Hopkins

Brady Benjamin and Eli Hampton both drove in a pair of runs in the Red Devils’ 6-0 win over Madisonville-North Hopkins. Trevor DeLacey went 2-3 with an RBI, while Will Hume went 1-1 with an RBI. Cayden Ray was lights out on the mound, throwing six shutout innings, striking out 11, while DeLacey pitched a scoreless seventh.

Trinity (Whitesville) 17, Caverna 2

Connor Hatfield and Harrison Barnett combined for six hits and seven RBIs to power the Raiders to a 17-2 win over Caverna. Isaac Hernandez drove in two runs, while Cale Boarman went 3-4 with an RBI. Boarman threw a complete game on the mound, allowing one earned run, while striking out seven.
