Daviess County 11, Apollo 0
Molly Hancock finished 3-3 with three RBIs and a homer to fuel the Lady Panthers to an 11-0 win over Apollo. Briley Henry, Kylie Clark, and Callie Smith combined for three hits and six RBIs, while Shelby Bennett and Sophia Cain both drove in a run. Cain threw four shutout innings, allowing only one hit and striking out eight, while Storey pitched a perfect fifth inning, striking out the side.
“Sophia was really strong in the circle and Storey closed the deal,” Daviess County head coach John Biggs said. “Offensively, we did a nice job of making adjustments and started barreling up some balls.”
Hancock County 10, Trinity (Whitesville) 9
The Lady Hornets scored nine runs in the third inning and held off a late comeback attempt by the Lady Raiders to win 10-9. Bella Byrant and Madyson Higdon both homered, while Baylee Estes and A Mosby combined for six hits and four RBIs. Bella Bryant allowed seven runs across 3 2/3 innings, while R French pitched 3 1/3 innings to close it out.
“It was a good win for us against a good team and good pitcher after we didn’t play very well last night,” Hancock County head coach Dwayne Wroe said. “We just got on a roll in the one inning and hit some balls really hard and kind of got contagious all through the lineup. After the big inning, they changed pitchers, and we didn’t do a very good job of adjusting at the plate. We were able to hang on, and Jordyn Waltrip made a great play with one out in the top of the seventh to double off a girl at first to end the game. Baylee Estes had a great night at the plate, going 4-4, and Bella Bryant and Madison Higdon both homered for us.”
For Trinity, Sarah Payne went 2-4 with four RBIs and a homer, while Sophie Hatfield and Madison McDaniel combined for three hits and four RBIs. Camryn Preston and Aubree Millay both had two hits, while Kendall Howard drove in a run. Hatfield allowed nine runs over 2 1/3 innings, before Ella Morris came on in relief. She gave up one earned run over 3 2/3 innings, striking out three.
