Owensboro High School running back and the top player in Kentucky according to On3, Evan Hampton announced via social media he is committing to play football at the University of Louisville. Hampton chose the Cardinals over offers from Michigan, Indiana, and NC State.

The junior is fresh from a stellar 2025 campaign that saw him rush for 1,549 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also hauled in 15 passes for 107 yards and four touchdowns. Through his three seasons on offense, he has accumulated 3,858 total yards and 57 touchdowns. On the season, the Red Devils finished 8-4 and advanced to the second round of the State Tournament before falling to Bowling Green.

Hampton joins a growingly stacked 2026 Louisville class that includes St. Xavier standouts Karsten Busch and Marlon Harbin and fellow four-star recruit Jaydin Broadnax.

A multi-sport athlete, Hampton is also a star on the diamond, hitting .470 with 20 RBIs a year ago.
