It was a busy day as McLean County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic, and Trinity (Whitesville) all had doubleheaders. In other action, Apollo and Daviess County both dropped heartbreakers.

McLean County 15, Trinity (Whitesville) 0

The Cougars pitching combined to allow one base runner across five innings in their 15-0 win over Trinity (Whitesville). Hayden Hudson finished 3-4 with two RBIs, while Houston Whitaker and Corbin Martin both added two RBIs. McLean County was aggressive on the basepaths swiping eight bags.

Hayden Hudson threw four perfect innings, striking out one, while Jordan Bailey walked one and didn’t allow a hit across one inning.

For the Raiders, Rylan Cecil, Cale Boarman, and Ian Hernandez combined to allow nine earned runs across five innings, striking out five.

Bowling Green 1, Apollo 0

Despite excellent pitching on the mound, the Eagles bats were unable to get going, falling to Bowling Green 1-0. Apollo had five hits on the afternoon, two coming from Grayson Smith. Ross Milburn allowed one run over four innings, striking out four. Isaac James came on in relief, throwing three shutout innings and striking out two.

South Warren 9, Daviess County 5

Leading 5-2, the Panthers gave up seven unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to lose to South Warren 9-5. Cameron Rickard and Lucas Ward had the team’s only RBIs. Weston Lawrence allowed two runs over four innings, striking out eight. Benjamin Watkins, Bradyn Morris, and Rickard all pitched out of the bullpen,

Breckinridge County 9, McLean County 2

A five run second inning doomed the Cougars, falling to Breckinridge County 9-2. Hayden Hudson finished 1-3 with two RBIs, while Jaelin Groves and Corbin Martin had the Panthers two other hits.

Ayden Rice started the game, allowing eight runs over four innings, while Groves allowed one run over two innings.

Christian County 6, Owensboro 2

A trio of fielding errors doomed the Red Devils, falling to Christian County 6-2. Ty Ashley finished 2-4 with an RBI, while Eli Hampton added two hits. Will Rickard struck out four across four shutout innings, while Nash Miller and Brayden Toler gave up a combined six runs (three earned), striking out two.

Owensboro 5, Barren County 3

The Red Devils scored four runs in the bottom of a second en route to their 5-3 win over Barren County. Cayden Ray finished 1-2 with two RBIs, while Eli Hampton drew three walks and added an RBI. Will Hume and Ty Ashley allowed one earned run each, while Ray closed out the game.

Owensboro Catholic 5, University Heights 1

A four run fourth inning powered the Aces to a 5-1 win over University Heights. Brady Atwell finished 1-1 with two RBIs and a pair of walks, while Jake Murphy and Jude Evans both recorded RBIs.

On the mound, Luke Quinn allowed one unearned run across 4 1/3 innings, striking out seven. Barrett Evans relieved him, throwing 2 2/3 shutout innings, with three strikeouts.

Lyon County 3, Owensboro Catholic 2

The Aces lost the second game of their doubleheader, falling to Lyon County 3-2. Brady Atwell finished 2-3, while Mason Moser and Parker Heistand had the Aces two RBIs. Lane Hundley got the start on the mound, allowing two earned runs across three innings, striking out three. Gentry Atwell and Jaxson White pitched out of the bullpen, allowing a combined one run over four innings, striking out six.

Breckinridge County 10, Trinity (Whitesville) 0

The Raiders had no answer for Breckinridge County, falling 10-0. Harrison Barnett had the team’s lone hit of the game and also drew a walk. Barnett was also the starting pitcher, allowing two earned runs across two innings, while striking out one. Connor Hatfield allowed one earned run across two innings, and Isaac Hernandez pitched, but was unable to record an out, allowing an unearned run.
