Owensboro Catholic rode an impressive offensive display to beat Apollo, Daviess County avenged an early season loss to Owensboro, while Trinity (Whitesville) lost on the road.

Owensboro Catholic 99, Apollo 22

Allie Marston and Aubrey Randolph combined for 34 points as Owensboro Catholic took down Apollo 99-22. Layla Martin added 15 points, while Karmin Riley (10) also scored in double-digits.

“I thought we shot the ball extremely well,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Michael Robertson said. “Especially from deep, we hit 18 threes.”

For Apollo, Aubrey Johnson hit three threes to go along with her 13 points. LaShay Vera (8) and Emerson Bullington (1) rounded out the team’s scoring.

Daviess County 79, Owensboro 56

In a rematch from earlier in the season, the Lady Panthers were able to even the season series – beating Owensboro 79-56. Kennedy Lane exploded for five threes to go along with her game-high 26 points, while Zoey Beehn added 21 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks. Lily Hoagalnd shot 7-10 from the field. while Molly Hancock was 4-5 from deep.

“It was a total team effort,” Daviess County head coach Natalie Payne said. “Our defensive rotations were phenomenal and we did a great job on the boards. Our kids were super focused on doing the little things and it paid off. We have a lot of confidence right now shooting the basketball and it’s really fun to watch.”

For the Lady Devils, Abby Sapp and Shalyn Sprinkles combined for 29 points, while Unique Carter-Swanagan added seven points.

“Hats off to Daviess County. They were better than us in all aspects of the game,” Owensboro head coach Jansen Locher said. “They hit a lot of shots and played great defense. I have to prepare my team better than I did tonight. We will learn from this game and hopefully, we can become a better team because of it.”

Grayson County 63, Trinity (Whitesville) 35

Rylynne Meserve hit four threes in the second half to go along with her team-high 14 points, but Trinity fell to Grayson County on the road 63-35. Sarah Payne finished second on the team in scoring with 11 points, while Nevaeh Mills and Ella Morris each added three points.
