Apollo beat McLean County, while Daviess County, Hancock County, and Owensboro Catholic also all picked up wins.
Apollo 60, McLean County 46
On Apollo’s senior night, Tate Powers scored a team-high 20 points to power the Eagles to a 60-46 win over McLean County. Seniors Luke Jarboe and Kobe Kelly combined for 18 points, while Max Johnson added 14 points.
“It was a great performance,” Apollo head coach Ryne Tinsley said. “I couldn’t have asked for two better seniors than Luke Jarboe and Kobe Kelly. They exemplify Apollo basketball with their selfless play. This program had won 20 games in five seasons. Year two isn’t over and we have 28 wins with these two leading the charge.”
For the Cougars, Braxton Floyd led the way with 15 points, while Landon French, Layden Bozarth, and Camden Baird all added eight points.
Daviess County 82, Muhlenberg County 63
Traveling to Muhlenberg County, the Panthers left with an 82-63 victory for their eighth straight win. Jaxon Brown led the team in scoring with 20 points and added two assists and two rebounds. Aydan finished with 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists, while DeAaron Watkins recorded a double-double of 17 points and 17 rebounds. Jonathan Moss also posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists.
“It was a solid team performance,” Daviess County head coach Neil Hayden said. “We had four players in double figures, and we rebounded really well.”
Hancock County 69, Cloverport 26
Beating Cloverport 69-26, Hancock County’s Alex Madden led the way with 15 points, four steals, two rebounds, and one assist. Keegan Wilson added 14 points, five assists, five rebounds, and two steals, while Abe Simpson recorded 11 points, two rebounds, and one assist.
“We got everyone playing time and collectively helped secure the win,” Hancock County head coach Josh Roberts said. “We are back to .500 on the season.”
Owensboro Catholic 64, Ohio County 51
Fresh off of a semi-finals appearance in the All-A, the Aces carried their momentum into a 64-51 win over Ohio County. Luke Beickman scored eight of his team-high 17 points in the second half, while Waryn Ebelhar added 14 of his 16 points in the first half. Davyn Randolph hit four threes to go along with his 14 points.
“We played tonight without three seniors, while Ohio County was down their best player,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Tim Riley said. “Flu season is here. We played really well in the first half and I am happy to have four guys finish in double-figures.”
