Daviess County and Owensboro Catholic both picked up big wins, while Hancock County and McLean County lost.

Daviess County 57, North Hardin 50

Due to some uncharacteristic errors on both sides of the ball, Daviess County found themselves in a 16-4 hole entering the second quarter. But after some key defensive adjustments, the Lady Panthers were able to find their strive, knocking off North Hardin on the road and ending their five-game losing streak, 57-50. Head coach Natalie Payne was complimentary of her entire team, stating that each girl who played was instrumental in the comeback victory.

Kennedy Lane led the team in scoring with 21 points and added six rebounds. Zoey Beehn filled the stat sheet, finishing with 15 points, nine rebounds, four blocks, and three steals, while Lily Hoagland added 10 points.

“It was an overall team effort,” Payne said. They showed grit in the 18-4 comeback as well as their ability to maintain a lead under pressure. I am so proud of this team and how they continue to fight through adversity.”

Breckinridge County 70, Hancock County 41

The Lady Hornets didn’t have an answer for Elizabeth Grimes who scored 22 points as they fell to Breckinridge County 70-41. Carolina Jones scored 15 of her team-high 24 points in the second half, while Ansley House added 14 points. Izzy Ross rounded out the team’s scoring with three points and despite not scoring, Madyson Higdon grabbed 10 rebounds.

“Breckinridge is really good and I think we initially came out and played intimidated,” Hancock County head coach Kevin Husk said. “Carolina Jones had a great night attacking the rim. We did do some thing well as a team, just not near as consistent as you to be in order to keep the game competitive. I still like our heart and effort, and the girls continue to improve.”

Grayson County 54, McLean County 40

The Lady Cougars were unable to find an answer for Grayson County’s Isabel Blanton, who scored a game-high 26 points, falling 54-40. Karlee Floyd led McLean County in scoring with 17 points, including going an impressive 10-11 at the free throw line, while Ava Lanum scored all seven of her points in the first half.

Owensboro Catholic 62, South Warren 51

It was a balanced attack for the Lady Aces as seven different players scored in their 62-51 road win over South Warren. Karmin Riley hit five threes to go along with her 17 points, while Aubrey Randolph scored 12 of her 14 points in the first quarter.
