A night after beating Trigg County in the Rafferty’s/Double Dogs Caveland Classic, Apollo fell to Mayfield 48-38. Kobe Kelly hit two threes in the second quarter finishing with a team-high 10 points, while Ehmadjai Badger finished with eight points. Luke Jarboe was third on the team in scoring with seven points.

Daviess County shot 50% from the field and 90% from the line but struggled with 14 turnovers under Male’s defensive pressure.

Hancock County 58, Louisville Collegiate 41

Hancock County earned a 58-41 win over Louisville Collegiate on Friday, dominating early and maintaining control throughout. The Hornets led 25-10 at halftime and out-rebounded Collegiate 39-23 to secure the victory.

Kieran Wilson scored 15 points, Alex Madden added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Dylan Lewko grabbed 15 boards for the Hornets. Tanner Boling chipped in nine points and six assists.

Owensboro 65, Carlisle County 50

Keaton Hughes was lights out in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of his team-high 28 points in Owensboro’s 65-50 win over Carlisle County in the Southwire Holiday Classic. Michael Acton added 22 points, while Aaron Richardson (9) and Keylin Payton (6) rounded out the team’s scoring.

Owensboro Catholic 60, Hopkinsville 52

Luke Beickman was named player of the game, scoring 23 points to fuel the Aces to a 60-52 win over Hopkinsville in the Faupel Automotive/Chevrolet GMC Ford Colonel Basketball Classic. Waryn Ebelhar added 13 points, while Solly Smith scored 12 points.

“It was a nice hard-fought win,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Tim Riley said. “Over the last two minutes we outscored them by eight points to close it out. We are getting better and improving, but we still have a long way to go.”

Webster County 57, Trinity (Whitesville) 46

Struggling to initiate their offense, Trinity was never able to find their flow, falling to Webster County 57-46 in the Southwire Holiday Classic. Without Cale Boarman, Connor Hatfield stepped up in his stead, scoring a team-high 16 points, while Hayden Aull added three threes to go along with his 12 points.

“We looked very tried, and I don’t know if that was the extra 10 feet of the Sportscenter or the early time,” Trinity head coach Nathan West said. Whatever it was didn’t seem to bother Webster, though. They out-toughed us in a lot of facets of today’s game, which is why they won.”
