The 2025 bowling season kicked off in early November, and several area teams are already showing promising results. Here’s a look at what the coaches said about their teams.

Apollo: Founded in 2013, the team reached the one million pin mark this year, doing so at the Graves Tournament on November 9. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams finished fourth in the tournament, and are off to vastly different starts. The Eagles have struggled out of the gate but have faced off against some of the best teams in the region, while the E-Gals are still undefeated.

Senior captain Landon Thompson, senior Brycen Chenault, and junior Ryan Krampe are all out to hot starts, while sophomore Connor Thomas and 8th-grader Owen Miller are two up-and-comers to keep an eye on.

Sophomores Gracie Brown and Sophie O’Bryan are stepping into larger roles this year, while 7th-grader Alexis Willis and freshman Kaylyn McDaniel are expected to make major contributions to the team.

“My goal is for both teams to have a winning season,” Apollo head coach Kerrie Franklin said. “We want to finish strong at the end of January come region time, finish top two, make it to the state tournament, and compete for the title.”

Daviess County: The Panthers entered the 2025 season with a solid turnout of new members. Sophomore Evan Onstott, freshman Brandon Hal, and eighth grader Lucas Tincher return for the boys’ while senior Taylor Curry is the veteran on the girls’ team. They are joined by up and coming freshman Kason Smith, eighth grader Logan Ramsdall, and seventh graders Conner Qualle, and Alec Jones.

Onstott has already made his presence felt this season, picking up a first-place finish at the Graves Co Early Bird Tournament.

Coach Casey Carroll wants to see their team grow as the season continues so they can compete at regionals and advance in the postseason.

Owensboro: Fresh off winning their first-ever boys’ bowling region championship, the Red Devils have their eyes set on repeating. Seniors Christian Miller, Tristan Miller, Andrew Christensen, and Chuck Canady, along with junior Xavier Coomes, are the key returners. They are joined by up-and-comers Sebastian Lawrence and Trey Douglas.

On the girls’ side, Zoey Douglas and Elizabeth Marshall are the key returners and are joined by Sumer Sutherlin, Emily Cooper, and Kaylynn Denton.

“I am proud of these kids, and they have been together since they were in 7th grade,” Owensboro head coach Regina Christensen said. “They have worked as a team the last few years to work to where we are now.”

Owensboro Catholic: The Aces entered the season with an extremely young roster, half of which are middle schoolers. The team has six upperclassmen still playing football due to their deep playoff run and when they arrive, the team will see a huge pickup.

Head coach Eddie Miller is happy with his younger players’ performance and has been complimentary of their drive.

“A year ago, they were happy to break 100, but his year if they aren’t hitting the 150-160 range, they are unhappy,” Miller said.

Seniors Michael Lyon and Luke Quinn are expected to lead the way, while eighth graders Dalton Condor, Isaac Self, and John Pfeifer have an opportunity to make some noise.

“Our goals are to keep getting better each and every match,” Miller said. “So, when we get to regionals, we are competitive.”
