Missing multiple starters, Hancock County fell to Grayson County 30-13 in their regular season finale on Friday. Brady Eubanks made his first career start at QB for the Hornets, finishing 7-12 for 59 yards, while adding 73 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Receiving the opening kickoff, Grayson County marched down the field and quickly took a 7-0 lead. Unfazed, Hancock County responded with a touchdown drive of their own when Eubanks connected with Jaxson Morris from four yards out.
Grayson County returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards to regain the lead 14-7, and they kept the lead for the remainder of the game. After forcing a punt, Grayson County added to their advantage thanks to a 13-yard touchdown run on a QB draw.
With just over two minutes left in the first half, Eubanks found the end zone from three yards out, but the Hornets missed the extra point. Grayson County had an opportunity for another score but was picked off in the end zone to end the first half.
After holding each other in check in the third quarter, Grayson County scored on a rushing touchdown and added a field goal in the fourth quarter to ice the game.
Hancock County finished the season 8-2 and hosts Franklin-Simpson in the first round of the 3A playoffs next Friday.
