After an impressive regular season, McLean County’s season ended in the first round of the playoffs, with the Cougars falling to Adair County 41-0 on the road Friday night.

The Indians struck twice in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead before scoring two more touchdowns in the second quarter, including a pick-six just before halftime. Adair County added a 38-yard touchdown run in the third quarter before taking a 41-0 lead with six minutes left.

Despite the rough outing, the Cougars finished the year 7-4 and head coach Zach Wagner was proud of his team’s accomplishment.

“I’m proud of them. A lot of people didn’t think we could have a winning season,” Wagner said. “There are some games we wanted back, but to get seven wins in high school football is still pretty tough to do and they should be proud of that.”
