The E-Gals lost to South Warren in a match that went the distance, while Owensboro swept Grayson County.

South Warren 3, Apollo 2

On the verge of sweeping South Warren, the E-Gals were unable to put them away, falling 3-2 (25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 20-25, 13-15) in heartbreaking fashion. Abie Butterworth finished with a team-high 15 kills, 18 digs, and four service aces, while Jessica Lee led the way with 20 assists.

“Tonight was a great match,” Apollo head coach Mary Howard said. “Every set went down to the wire. South Warren is a great team that has played some of the toughest teams in the state. I thought both teams were extremely solid tonight, and each set came down to whichever team was able to make a little run towards the end. We came up a little short in the end, but I was very proud of how the girls battled in the fifth set.”

Owensboro 3, Grayson County 0

Addie Travis led the way with 10 kills, nine blocks, six digs, and one service ace in the Lady Devils 3-0 (25-19, 25-9, 25-23) sweep over Grayson County. Anna Travis recorded a team-high 19 assists and added four kills, four digs, two blocks, and two service aces, while Rose Larsen finished with nine digs, eight kills, one service ace, and one assist.
