The Owensboro Red Devils wasted no time asserting their dominance over the Muhlenberg Mustangs, cruising to a commanding 56-8 win on Friday night.

Evan Hampton set the tone on the game’s first play, taking it 56 yards to the end zone for an early 6-0 lead. Quarterback Trevor DeLacey followed with a touchdown pass to Blake Kimbrell, who snagged a tipped ball in the end zone, pushing the Red Devils ahead 14-0. Owensboro’s defense then recovered a fumble on Muhlenberg’s ensuing drive, continuing to stifle the Mustangs.

Hampton struck again in the first quarter, marching 22 yards to the 1-yard line before punching it in for another score. The Red Devils closed the quarter with a pick-6 by Tre Shemwell, pushing the lead to 30-0.

In the second quarter, Hampton broke free again, this time for a 63-yard touchdown run. Owensboro’s defense kept the pressure on, pinning the Mustangs deep in their own territory and forcing a safety to make it 36-0.

Ty Ashley extended the lead further with a 36-yard scramble into the end zone late in the second quarter. Owensboro continued to dominate in the third quarter, with Dillard adding another score from 18 yards out, extending the lead to 50-0.

Muhlenberg finally got on the scoreboard early in the fourth quarter, but by then the outcome was all but decided. Tee Green capped off Owensboro’s offensive showcase with a short run from the 3-yard line to seal the 56-8 win.

Owensboro’s high-powered offense and suffocating defense proved too much for the Mustangs, keeping their unbeaten streak alive in district play.

The Red Devils will face Madisonville North Hopkins next Friday at Rash Stadium.
