Daviess County couldn’t get much going Friday night in a 52-7 home loss to McCracken County.

The Panthers’ offensive struggles continued, gaining only 143 total yards with 97 in the air and 46 on the ground.

It took McCracken County only 95 seconds to take a 7-0 lead – marching 50 yards on five plays, culminating in QB Maddox O’Neal finding Reed Brookshire for a 14-yard touchdown.

On their ensuing drive, Daviess County started to move down the field but stalled out and punted after 10 plays.

Starting at their own 1-yard line, the Mustangs drove the entire field to take a 14-0 lead after O’Neal found Landon Newman for a 34-yard touchdown. After forcing the Panthers to punt again, the Mustangs scored on their third straight drive to take a 21-0 lead. O’Neal found Cooper Falaconite who took it the house for a 61-yard touchdown.

Refusing to roll over, Garrison Barker broke free for an 18-yard rushing touchdown to cut the DC deficit to 14 with 6:16 left in the first half. However, it proved to be the lone score of the night for the Panthers.

The Mustangs scored three more touchdowns in the second quarter to enter halftime with a commanding 42-7 lead. In the third quarter, the Mustangs scored their seventh touchdown of the game, an 11-yard rush to go up 49-7. In the fourth quarter, McCracken County’s Brock Wilson kicked a 49-yard field goal to make it 52-7.

Next week the Panthers host Apollo in their regular season finale.
