Daviess County cruised to another win, while Owensboro fell short against the number one team in boys’ soccer action Thursday.
Daviess County 7, Warren Central 2
Jack Quisenberry and Carter Payne both scored twice as the Panthers routed Warren Central 7-2. Daviess County had 17 shots on goal compared to Warren Central’s eight, while goalie Harrison Dunaway finished with four saves.
“We played well. It was a nice bounce back from Tuesday’s game at Henderson,” Daviess County head coach Doug Sandifer said. “We got back to switching the ball through the midfield and finding the wings early.”
Bowling Green 3, Owensboro 1
Ryan Sovar scored and goalie Landon Black finished with eight saves, but the Red Devils fell short of Bowling Green 3-1. Bowling Green was awarded two penalty kicks, capitalizing on both.
“Bowling Green is ranked number one for a reason. They are a solid team and play very fast and technical,” Owensboro head coach Ryan Haley said. “Our guys tonight matched that in every way. What separated us tonight was two penalty kicks. Both teams had chances, but for our guys to bring them such a fight, I am proud of that. Moving forward, I think we are a better team for playing this game. It made us stronger and let the boys know that we can play with anyone.”
