Both Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic suffered losses in boys’ soccer action on Saturday.

Warren Central 2, Owensboro 0

Fresh off of a massive win over Daviess County, the Red Devils were unable to capitalize on their momentum and fell to Warren Central 2-0. The offense had nine shots on goal, but no one was able to find the back of the net. Goalie Landon Black finished with three saves.

“I thought our boys played hard,” Owensboro head coach Ryan Haley said. “I thought Warren Central controlled the first half and we controlled the second half.”

Todd County Central 3, Owensboro Catholic 2

Joseph Kurtz and Owen Brey both found the back of the net, while JW Kurtz added an assist, but it wasn’t enough as Owensboro Catholic fell 3-2 to Todd County Central in an All-A state qualifier. Ben Dawson finished with one save. The Aces had 11 shots with six of them on goal, while Todd County Central had eight shots, four of them on goal.

“It’s disappointing to take the lead twice and not come out on top,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Andy Donohoe said. “We created chances and controlled possession for long spells, but got caught out in some transition moments.”
