The remainder of the Owensboro Catholic varsity girls’ soccer season has been canceled due to the limited number of players following injuries.

Head coach Meg Patton said it was an unfortunate decision that had to be made.

“We had to cancel our season due to numbers and injuries,” Patton said. “We knew it was a possibility with how low on numbers we already were, but it doesn’t make it any easier. I’m very upset for our seniors, but they have been and will continue to be the JV team’s biggest cheerleaders.”

Owensboro Catholic High School Athletic Director Jason Morris shared similar thoughts.

“We tried to have a season with the minimum amount of players but injuries have already occurred,” he said. “We simply do not have enough girls to play.”

The Lady Aces only played two games this season, falling to Apollo and McCracken County.
