Fighting off the hot temperature, the Red Devils shut out Muhlenberg County 8-0 behind Ryan Sovar’s two goals and an assist.

The game was called with 20 minutes left in the second half due to the mercy rule. Owensboro finished with 24 shots on goal, 20 of them in the first half. Jackson Sigler, Brian Payne, Meta, Max Knoop, Emile Banza, and Romer Payne scored the team’s remaining goals. Keeper Landon Black finished with three saves.

“I thought we played a complete team game,” Owensboro head coach Ryan Haley said. “We kept up the tempo with limited touches per player and let the ball do the work. We were able to play all healthy guys. It was a very solid game.”
