Owensboro Times is thrilled to announce a long-anticipated expansion of our daily sports coverage. We’re now bringing recaps, game stories, and features of McLean County to our readers!

For the past 6 years, the Owensboro Times has been your go-to source for all things sports at Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic, and Trinity high schools. Now, we’re taking the excitement to the next level by adding McLean County to our lineup!

“Our roots in Owensboro-Daviess County run deep, and we’re ready to grow even stronger by bringing McLean County into the fold,” said Managing Editor Ryan Richardson. “We knew from Day 1 we wanted to expand our coverage to McLean County, and we’ve been working diligently over the last several months to finally make it happen. We’re buzzing with excitement about the possibilities it brings!”

McLean County Athletic Director Justin Cook shared our enthusiasm.

“OT’s coverage will put our student-athletes in the spotlight and that is fantastic. More exposure means more opportunities for our athletes, and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” he said. “We might be a small county, but we’ve got big talent, and this is our chance to show it off!”

Cook went on to highlight the incredible potential this partnership holds.

“We’re looking forward to a great year in sports,” Cook said. “For us, it’s all about getting our kids out there, having fun, and competing. Wins and losses are part of the game, but building a strong program and growing our numbers, that’s what truly matters. Sharing that excitement with the community at large will mean a lot to all of our student-athletes, and we’re thankful OT will help us do that.”

With this expansion, the Owensboro Times is dedicated to bringing the remarkable achievements and heartwarming stories of McLean County’s student-athletes to the forefront. Our commitment to local sports has never been stronger, and we’re ready to innovate and elevate our coverage like never before.

OT is also inviting the community to celebrate this new partnership in style! Join us in Calhoun on September 13, when Hancock County faces off against McLean in a must-see football showdown. We’ll have giveaways and plenty of surprises in store!

But that’s not all — our coverage has already started. We’ve already begun including McLean sports in our daily recaps, and you can look forward to season previews in the next few days, giving you a taste of what to expect from the fall sports teams at MCHS. As the season heats up, we’ll also include features highlighting standout achievements by players and teams across all sports.
