The Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces put together an impressive performance at The Pearl Club on Thursday to win the All “A” Region Tournament with a team score of 199, earning a berth in the All “A” State Tournament. A pair of Trinity Lady Raiders also advanced to state.

The OC duo of Hannah Robbins and Emma Lanham tied for first individually with 47s, with the sophomore Lanham winning the tiebreaker. The trio of Elizabeth Wright, Marley Blaize, and Ava Settles shot 52, 53, and 55 respectively.

“I’m proud of how our team battled today,” head coach Jenny Burns said. “The course was set up tough, but they competed and now we’re headed to All ‘A’ state. We need to work on our short game heading into state, but I know this squad has what it takes.”

For Trinity, Rylie Hayden shot a 66, while her teammate Olivia Ward finished with a 68.

While the All “A” Region was going on, Owensboro High School traveled to Ohio County, but fell by 10 strokes – 208 to 218. The Lady Devils Ryann Kasey led everyone with a 44, while Hampton Gaddis, Olive Harrison, and Ellison Storm all shot a 57, 51, and 66 respectively.

“We came up 10 strokes shy of playing even with Ohio Co. at their course. I’ll take it,” Owensboro head coach Bryan Kasey said. “It was our team’s third match of the week and our goal heading into the week was let’s peak as a team by the third match and keep improving. We were able to accomplish that goal. Tonight we had some of the members shoot their round of the week so overall I’m pleased heading into next week.”
