Post 9 Owensboro Bombers continued their winning ways, defeating the Post 68 Aces 4-1 on the road in Eddyville Thursday night.
The Bombers (15-9) struck first with one run in the top of the first, but the Aces wasted no time retaliating in the second half of the inning, tying things up 1-1. A defensive stalemate followed until the Bombers blew things open with three runs in the top of the 7th and the eventual 4-1 victory.
Grayson Smith snagged the win on the mound, allowing just one hit and no earned runs in 6 and third innings of work. He also recorded a season-high 10 strike-outs. Cayden Crabtree picked up the save, striking out the final two batters of the evening.
Joshua Mayes led the Bombers at the plate with three hits, including one double. Easton Blandford added a double, while Eli DeBoer, Paxton Gardner, Deuce Sims, and Logen Thomas each recorded a single. DeBoer had two RBIs on the evening.
The squad returns to action in Mortons Gap tomorrow night against Madisonville Post 6 for their final game of the regular season. They will begin play in the KY State Tournament in Campbellsville on July 25.
