Trinity High School’s Brady McBrayer and Carson Fitzgerald finished 3rd overall at the KHSAA State Bass Fishing tournament.
McBrayer and Fitzgerald placed 3rd overall with a total of 31lbs and 2oz. They narrowly missed out on tying for second place by just 5 ounces. They maxed out on both days of competition by catching 5 bass on day one and 5 bass on day two, and their biggest catch weighed in at 4lbs and 14oz.
The two juniors have advanced to state for 3 years in a row with the Raiders. The first two trips to state saw them finish in the middle of the pack, but this year’s bronze performance was their highest placement yet. With one more year to go for Fitzgerald and McBrayer, head coach BJ Fitzgerald is eager to see them get the gold next year.
“It was amazing to see the hard work pay off,” he said. “The best part about it is they both still have one more year left! They are juniors. Third was great, but it just makes you hunger that much more for the win next year.”
