Tennis recap (April 30): AHS, OCHS

Apollo and Owensboro Catholic both took down their opponents on both the boys’ team and the girls’ team. 

AHS 

Apollo took on Butler County, and they defeated them 8-1 on the girls’ side, and 5-4 on the boys’ side. 

The E-gals were led by big 8-0 wins from Anna Dilback, Jessie Pate and Morgan Shook, an 8-1 win from Adelyn Dilback, an 8-2 win from Sami Ebelhar and finally an 8-3 win from Karsen Locher. In doubles, the duo of Layla Parker/Annie Halbig won 8-3 and Alex Swift/Eh Skiter won 8-6. 

On the boys’ side, Ko Reh won 8-0 in singles along with 8-1 wins from Maddox Tucker and Ben Halbig and an 8-4 win from Sreeram Galla. 

OCHS

Both the Lady Aces and the Aces had big 7-2 victories over Grayson County. 

Joseph Merchant kicked things off on the boys’ side with a 6-1 and 6-0 win. Also contributing wins in singles was Patrick Hauke with an 8-0 victory, John Wathen with an 8-4 win and Ben Haines with an 8-5 win. In doubles, Cooper and Houston Danzer won 8-1, Hauke/Haines won 6-4 and 6-1 and Luke Pfeifer/Wathen won 8-1. 

The Lady Aces were led in singles by an 8-0 win from Ella Cason, an 8-1 win from Sophia Merchant and 8-3 wins from both Meredith Traylor and Christina Head. In doubles, the duo of Elizabeth Hayden/Maddie Meyer won 6-0 and 6-3, Savannah Lewis/Traylor won 8-1 and Isabella Reisz/Julia Marshall won 8-4.
