The E-gals and the Lady Aces faced off in a close district game that saw Apollo take the 4-3 win. Apollo now sits 2-3 in district play, and Owensboro Catholic are 3-2.
The game started out with a scoreless first inning, but Apollo then took the lead with 3 runs in the second. Owensboro Catholic got 2 of those runs back in the top of the third, but AHS added one more run to their lead in the bottom of the inning. OCHS closed the gap back to just one run at 4-3, but the E-gals stepped up to the challenge of holding off the Lady Aces for next three innings. They successfully shut down OCHS to secure the 4-3 win.
On the mound for Apollo was Hannah Holder who had 3 strikeouts and allowed 4 hits across 4 innings, and Mollie Julian who closed out the final three innings allowing 1 hit with 4 strikeouts. At the plate, Taylor Clark had 2 RBIs, and Macy Calhoun had an RBI along with 1 run scored. Mallory Velotta hit a double and had 1 RBI, and runs were scored by Tyler Hall, Abbie Butterworth and Emersyn Bullington.
On the mound for the Lady Aces was Maren Riney who allowed 5 hits across 3 innings, and Hannah Robbins had 2 strikeouts and allowed 3 hits across 3 innings. At the plate, Robbins had 2 RBIs, and Gracie Dukate hit a double and had 1 RBI. Runs were scored by Addilyn Simmons, Taylor Winstead and Lily Logsdon.
