Softball recap (April 30): AHS vs. THS, DCHS

Apollo and Trinity faced off in a game that saw the E-gals have a commanding win over the Lady Raiders. Daviess County suffered a rare loss after they traveled to Henderson County.

AHS 11, THS 1

Trinity hosted Apollo in a game that saw the E-gals come out with a big 11-1 win. 

Apollo heated up quickly as they scored 5 runs in the first inning to take an early lead. The second inning saw the E-gals add another run to their lead. The next two innings saw the Lady Raiders shut down AHS on defense, but they couldn’t break through on offense. Apollo took the score to 8-0 with 2 runs in the fifth inning. Apollo scored one more run in the sixth before THS got on the board with a run in the bottom of the inning. AHS closed the game with 2 more runs in the final inning for a score of 11-1. 

On the mound for the E-gals was Mollie Julian with 2 strikeouts in 2 innings and Hannah Holder who had 1 strikeout across 5 innings. The E-gals found lots of success at the plate as they had 14 hits. Arianna Ramirez had a big game at the plate as she hit 2 doubles, had 3 RBI, 3 hits and 2 runs scored, and Abbie Butterworth hit a double, had 3 RBI and 2 hits. Mallory Velotta hit a double and a triple, had 2 RBI, 3 hits and scored 2 runs, and Macy Calhoun had 2 RBI. Tyler Hall hit 2 doubles and scored 1 run, and Taylor Clark and Liza Page scored 1 run each as well. 

On the mound for the Lady Raiders was Ella Morris who recorded 9 strikeouts across 7 innings. Emma Whitehouse had 1 RBI, and Georgia Howard scored the lone run. Kylie Hatfield had 2 hits, and Sophie Hatfield, Morris, Whitehouse and Howard all had 1 hit each. 

Henderson Co. 7, DCHS 2

Daviess County took to the road to play against Henderson County, and they were defeated 7-2. 

The game started evenly as the first two innings went scoreless. Henderson then took the lead in the third with 3 runs. They added to their tally with 2 runs in the fourth inning and 2 runs in the fifth while DC struggled to get the runs they wanted. After trailing 7-0, the Lady Panthers scored 2 runs in the sixth inning, but Henderson held them scoreless in the final inning to take the 7-2 win. 

On the mound for the Lady Panthers was Sophia Cain who pitched for 3 innings, and Kamryn Timmons who had 6 strikeouts across 3 innings. At the plate, Kylie Clark and Makayla Rowan both had 1 RBI, and Molly Hancock and Danielle Beckworth both scored 1 run each.
