Daviess County and Owensboro went head-to-head in a city-county matchup while Owensboro Catholic’s girls’ team fell to Castle, IN.
DCHS vs. OHS
Daviess County came out on top over Owensboro in this city-county match as both teams won 7-2.
For DC, the boys swept the singles competition with big 8-1 wins from Parth Haria and Yuga Kani, an 8-2 win by Eli Bevins, and an 8-3 win by Matthew Dunlay. Landon McDuffee won a close 7-6 set before winning 6-3, and George Newton won 9-7. In doubles, Bevins and Kani had two dominant 6-0 wins.
On the girls’ side, singles were dominated by the Lady Panthers as Alexa Salamah, Ella Boswell, Kate McCain and Maddy Brown all won 8-0, and Allessa Hall won 8-2. In doubles, the duo of Emmie Kate Williams/Hall won 8-0 and McCain/Brown won 8-4.
For OHS, the girls had wins from Addie Travis who won 6-0, lost 0-6 and then won the tie breaker, and the duo of Whitley Ford/Travis also won a tie breaker after losing 6-4 and then winning 6-1. On the boys’ side, both their wins came in doubles as the duo Broderick Devine/John Clay Ford won 8-2 and Aro Johnson/Andrew Deibel won a long 14-12 tiebreaker after losing 7-5 and then winning 6-3.
OCHS
The Lady Aces were defeated 4-1 by Castle, IN. Their lone win came from Maddie Meyer who won a tiebreaker after losing 6-4 and then winning 7-6.
