Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic faced off in district play this weekend, and the Lady Aces came out on top 5-1. With this win OCHS are now 3-2 in district and the Lady Red Devils are 0-6.
The first two innings saw neither team take an advantage and they both remained scoreless. They both got moving in the third however, as they both scored 1 run each. They locked horns again as their defenses held one another scoreless for the next three innings. The Lady Aces broke the deadlock in the bottom of the seventh and had a big 4-run performance to win with a comfortable 5-1 scoreline.
On the mound for OCHS was Hannah Robbins who racked up 8 strikeouts across 7 innings while allowing just 2 hits. Tyranda Stuart led the team at the plate with a home run, all 5 of the team’s RBIs and a run scored. The other runs were scored by Hannah Tignor, Maren Riney, Reagan Leach and Emma Riney.
On the mound for the Lady Red Devils was Alyssa Rhineburger who had 2 strikeouts across 6.1 innings. Emmi Connor had an RBI, and Anna Hamilton scored the run.
