Owensboro Catholic and Trinity both began play in the All “A” Classic while Apollo hosted Union County at home.
AHS 5, Union Co. 0
Apollo played their first game since returning from Florida, and they defeated Union County 5-0.
The E-gals got a quick 1-0 lead at the end of the first inning, and it didn’t take them long to extend their lead with 2 more runs in the second. After the third and fourth innings went scoreless, Apollo scored another 2 runs in the fifth . They shut down Union and secured the 5-0 win.
Noah Cook had a big game on the mound as he had 10 strikeouts and allowed 1 hit throughout 6 innings. Carter Kimmel also pitched for 1 inning and had 1 strikeout.
OCHS 6, Hancock 1
Owensboro Catholic advanced to the next round of the All “A” Classic after they defeated Hancock County 6-1.
Hancock struck first with 1 run in the first inning. OCHS got the run back in the second inning to tie it. They took the lead with 1 run in the fourth inning, The Aces scored another 3 runs in the fifth and 1 run in the sixth inning. OCHS got the win at 6-1.
Barrett Evans recorded 4 strikeouts and only allowed 3 hits across 5 innings. Mason Moser had 2 RBIs, and Jaxson White had 1. Eli Blair hit a double and scored 1 run. Deuce Sims scored 2 runs, Parker Heistand scored 1 run, and Tucker Evans and Houston Flynn both scored 1 run.
McLean Co. 11, THS
Trinity had a tough 11-0 defeat against McLean County in their game in the All “A” Classic.
THS fell behind early as McLean scored 4 runs in the first inning. McLean added 1 more run in the second. Trinity struggled to find success at the plate, and McLean scored 2 runs in the third and 4 in the fifth to close out the game at 11-0.
Hayden Aull pitched for 4 innings and recorded 3 strikeouts.
