Apollo kept their run of good form going strong after taking down McLean County, making this their 10th win in 11 games. Meanwhile, Trinity was taken down by Hancock County.
AHS 5, McLean Co. 3
Apollo came out on top 5-3 in a battle at home against McLean County.
McLean struck first with a run in the opening inning. Apollo struggled to get on the board in the next two innings, but they came up big in the fourth inning with 3 runs to take the lead. They scored their final 2 runs in the fifth, but McLean scored 2 runs in the top of the sixth and held AHS scoreless to possibly set them up to tie in the seventh. Apollo shut them down however to take the 5-3 win.
The Eagles only allowed 2 hits on the mound as Ryleigh Logan pitched for 5 innings and recorded 4 strikeouts, and Grayson Smith had 3 strikeouts in 2 innings. At the plate, Ty Lillpop hit a home run, had 2 RBIs and scored 1 run. Sam Holder hit a double, and Easton Blandford and Ross Milburn both scored 1 run each.
Hancock Co. 13, THS 5
Trinity had success on offense, but they were defeated 13-5 by Hancock County at home.
Hancock opened scoring in the first inning with 2 runs before they took a 6-0 lead in the second scoring 4 runs. Trinity struggled to get on the board while Hancock added 3 more runs to their tally in the third and fourth innings. The Raiders scored big when they finally broke through as they scored 3 runs. It was too little too late however, as Hancock scored 4 runs to Trinity’s 2 in the final two innings. The final score was 13-5.
On the mound, Brady McBrayer pitched for 5 innings and recorded 4 strikeouts while Nate Blue pitched for 2 innings. At the plate, Cale Boarman hit a double, had 1 RBI and 2 hits. Connor Hatfield and Carson Fitzgerald both had 1 RBI, and Kayin Howard, Hayden Aull, Harrison Barnett and Rylan Cecil all scored 1 run each.
