A city-county matchup saw Owensboro beat Apollo in a very close contest that saw OHS come out on top. Meanwhile, Owensboro Catholic had a clean sweep over Muhlenberg County.
AHS vs. OHS
Owensboro and Apollo faced off in a close match that saw OHS win 5-4 on both the boys’ and girls’ teams.
In the girls’ competition, Owensboro’s Addie Travis and Whitley Ford both secured singles wins and as partners in doubles along with the duo of Karsen Locher/Macey Woodruff who won 8-6. Apollo had big 8-0 wins in singles from Ella Hayden and Jolie Foster while Anna Dilback and Jessie Pate won 8-3 in doubles.
On the boys’ side, OHS had singles wins from Arlo Johnson, Miles McDaniel and John Clay Ford. The duos of Clay Ford/Walker Gaddis and Johnson/Andrew Diebel won in their doubles matches. Apollo’s Nolin Duke, Connor O’Bryan and Stetson Osborne all got wins in singles while Maddox Tucker and Ben Halbig secured a win in doubles.
OCHS
Owensboro Catholic’s girls’ team had a commanding 9-0 victory while the boys’ team took down Muhlenberg 5-2. The girls’ win was paved by 8-0 wins by Ella Cason and Julia Marshall and an 8-1 win by Maddie Meyer in singles play. The duos of Isabelle Prisz/Marshall and Christina Head/Meyer secured big 8-1 victories.
