The week started off with Daviess County and Trinity both suffering losses on the diamond to Bowling Green and Edmonson County respectively.
Bowling Green 8, DCHS 6
Daviess County lost a close 8-6 at home against Bowling Green.
Bowling Green got on the scoreboard first with 2 runs in the first inning. The next inning saw Daviess County bring the score to 2-1 with a run of their own. DCHS took the lead in the third inning with 4 runs to take the score to 5-2. After a scoreless fourth inning, Bowling Green tied the game up at the top of the fifth with 3 runs. DC took the lead back with a run at the bottom of the fifth. Bowling Green took the game in the sixth inning with 3 runs. Daviess County tried to bring the game back in the final inning but was left scoreless to finish the game at 8-6.
Brayden Wells had a big game at the plate as he had 5 RBIs and a double. On the mound, Logan Mewes recorded 6 strikeouts while allowing only 2 runs. Carter Nichols had an RBI, scored a run and hit a double as well.
Edmonson County 11, THS 1
Trinity suffered a tough 11-1 loss at home against Edmonson County.
The game started off evenly as both teams scored a run in the opening inning and the second went scoreless. Edmonson took the lead in the third inning with 2 runs, but they ran away with the lead in the fifth inning with 8 runs. A sixth inning wasn’t played, and the game ended 11-1.
Grant Howard scored the lone run and had 2 hits as well. Hayden Aull had an RBI and 2 hits as well.
