Baseball recap (March 19): AHS, DCHS, OCHS, THS

Most of the Owensboro schools struggled to find success on the day as Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro Catholic and Trinity all suffered losses. Owensboro Catholic lost their season opener 4-0 against Muhlenberg County. Individual stats for OCHS are currently unavailable.

Breckinridge Co. 2, AHS 1

Apollo picked up their first loss of the season in a 2-1 loss against Muhlenberg County.

Breckinridge scored their 2 runs early on in the first inning to take the lead. The rest of the game was a battle for Apollo to get things moving on offense. They got themselves on the scoreboard with a run in the 4th inning, but Breckinridge closed out the 2-1 win. Ty Lillpop had an RBI and hit a double. Grayson Smith hit a triple, and the lone run was scored by Sam Holder. 

On the mound was John Milburn and Garrett Lanham who combined for 3 strikeouts.

Bowling Green 6, DCHS 2

Daviess County also received their first loss of the season after being defeated 6-2 by Bowling Green. 

Bowling took a 2-run lead in the 2nd inning while Daviess County went scoreless for the first 3 innings. The fourth inning saw DCHS score their first run, but Bowling Green added another 3 runs in the fourth as well. Both teams scored a final run each in the fifth inning, and Bowling Green closed out the 6-2 win. 

Brody Brubaker hit a triple and had an RBI during the game. Brett Poole had an RBI as well. Runs were scored by Logan Mewes and Toby Morris. On the mound was Poole, Parker Wilson and Brodie Tucker combined for 4 strikeouts. 

Meade Co. 11, THS 0

Trinity suffered a tough 11-0 loss against Meade County.

Meade took a big lead early on as they scored 1 run in the first inning and 5 more in the second. While Trinity pressed on trying to get on the scoreboard on 4 hits, Meade scored 2 runs in the third, 2 in the fourth and 1 run in the fifth to close out the game. On the mound Steven James and Harrison Barnett combined for 3 strikeouts.
