Girls’ Basketball recap (Feb. 5): OHS

Despite a 20-point performance from Shalyn Sprinkles, Owensboro suffered a 57-44 loss on the road against Breckinridge County. This defeat brings them to 15-8 on the season. 

The Lady Red Devils started off on the backfoot as they struggled to get past Breckinridge’s defense. After trailing 18-6 going into the second quarter, OHS began to find rhythm on offense and scored 10 points to Breckinridge’s 11. The halftime score was 29-16. Owensboro began their fight to cut into the lead with 3 threes as part of their 14 points. Breckinridge closed out the game by outscoring OHS 15-14. The final score saw OHS lose 57-44. 

Sprinkles made 3 threes, shot 6 of 7 from the free throw line and had 20 points to lead the Lady Red Devils. Heleina John followed behind with 10 points on the night.
