Daviess County and Trinity went head-to-head while Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic both went on the road and brought wins back with them.
DCHS 66, THS 16
The Lady Panthers hosted the Lady Raiders in a game that saw DCHS win in a 66-16 blowout victory.
Daviess County took control of the game early on as Lily Hoagland and Zoey Beehn combined for 20 points to put the score at the end of the quarter at 20-4. DCHS outscored THS 14-5 in the second quarter to lead 34-9 at halftime. Daviess County didn’t hold back in the third quarter as a 6-player scoring effort saw DC score 21 points to Trinity’s 2. DCHS closed out the win at 66-16.
Hoagland led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 21 points while shooting 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Zoey Beehn followed behind with 2 threes and 15 points. Briley Henry scored 10 points on the night as well.
Leading the Lady Raiders in scoring was Kenzie McDowell with 8 points, and she shot 4 of 4 from the free throw line as well.
OHS 67, Madisonville North-Hopkins 49
Owensboro took to the road to face off against Madisonville-North Hopkins where they had a comfortable 67-49 win.
Both teams began to get their offenses moving in the first quarter as OHS held a 13-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Red Devils picked up momentum in the second quarter as they outscored Madisonville 20-12 to lead 33-22 at halftime. The OHS defense put in work in the third quarter as they held Madisonville to just 9 points while they extended their lead with 18 of their own. In the fourth quarter Madisonville scored 18 to try to pull something off at the end, but Owensboro scored 16 to close the game out at 67-49.
Leading the Lady Red Devils in scoring was Shalyn Sprinkles with 6 threes to go with her 19 points. Heleina John followed behind with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 out of 7 free throws. A’lyrica Hughes scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds on the night.
OCHS 73, Henderson Co. 63
Owensboro Catholic took their win streak to 7 after beating Henderson County by 10 points in their 73-63 victory.
Catholic fell behind early as Hednerson gained a 20-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Aces took the lead in the second quarter after Delaney Cooper and Jenna Krpe combined for 16 to hoist OCHS over Henderson 34-32 at halftime. Owensboro Catholic fought off Henderson in the third to outscore them 19-14 and hang onto their lead. A batch of free throws in the final quarter helped Catholic outscore Henderson 20-17 and close out the win at 73-63.
Krampe led the Lady Aces with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 5 of 5 from the free throw line. Cooper followed behind with a three pointer as part of her 19 points. Hailee Johnson shot 7 of 8 on free throws to go with her 16 points on the night.
