Burns Middle School places top 10 in two events at UCA Nationals; 5 Owensboro Schools compete

Burns Middle School was the only Owensboro school to make it to the finals as they finished in the top 5 in the Junior High Non Tumbling Game Day division, and top 10 in the Junior High Non Tumbling division at UCA Nationals in Orlando, FL. Apollo High School, Owensboro High School, Daviess County High School, Burns Middle School and College View Middle School traveled to Disney World on Feb. 8 to represent Owensboro in Nationals.

Burns Middle School

Burns Middle School placed 5th overall in the Junior High Non Tumbling Game Day division, and 7th in the Junior High Non Tumbling division. Their 5th place finish marks 8 times since 2017 that Burns Middle School has been in the top 5 in the nation in the Junior High Non Tumbling Game Day division. 

Head coach Robin Ebelhar said that the team earned their top 5 finish with many hours of hard work, dedication, grit and determination. 

“This team has put in so many hours of hard work into both of these routines,” she said. “Their dedication, grit and determination are what drove them to the success they had at nationals. I couldn’t be prouder of them. They not only made themselves proud, but they also made Owensboro and The Foxes’ Den proud. Where the Foxes at?”

Apollo High School

Apollo High School competed in four different events in Nationals. In the Small Varsity Coed Division 1 Game Day they placed 17th in the semifinal round. In the Large Varsity Non Tumbling Division 1 they placed 12th in the preliminary round. In the Large Varsity Non Tumbling Division 1 Game Day they placed 10th in the preliminary round. In the Small Varsity Coed Division 1 they placed 10th in the preliminary round. 

Daviess County High School

Daviess County High School competed in two different events in Nationals. In the Super Varsity Division 1 Game Day they placed 18th in the semifinal round. In the Small Varsity Division 1 they placed 16th in the preliminary round.  

Owensboro High School 

Owensboro High School competed in four different events in Nationals. In the Small Varsity Coed Division 1 Game Day they placed 21st in the semifinal round. In the Small Varsity Non Tumbling Division 1 they placed 12th in the preliminary round. In the Medium Varsity Non Tumbling Division 1 Game Day they placed 12th in the preliminary round. In the Small Varsity Coed Division 1 they placed 15th in the preliminary. 

College View Middle School

College View Middle School competed in one event in Nationals. In the Small Junior High Game Day they placed 19th in the semifinal round.
