Apollo and Daviess County faced off in their final district game of the season while Trinity played their final district game against Grayson County.
DCHS 83, AHS 48
Daviess County took down Apollo 83-48 to cap off district play and secure the 1st seed.
The Panthers made 3 threes in the first quarter to help them take a 10-point lead at 19-9. Luke Jarboe’s 8 points helped AHS to 13 in the quarter, but Jonathan Moss’s 12 points helped DCHS extend their lead with 21. Leading at halftime 40-22, Daviess County continued to mount the pressure as another 3 threes helped them to outscore Apollo 21-12 in the third quarter. The Eagles continued to make moves on offense, but their 14 points in the fourth couldn’t cut the gap and DC took the win 83-48.
Leading the Panthers was Moss with 4 threes and 5 of 5 from free throws as part of his 25 points. DeAaron Watkins followed close behind with 2 threes and 21 points of his own. Gage Phelps scored 2 threes and 17 points on the night as well.
Jarboe made 4 threes, shot 5 of 6 from the free throw line and scored 23 points to lead the charge for the Eagles. Tate Powers followed behind with 4 threes and 16 points on the night.
Grayson 66, THS 54
Trinity fell short in their final district game against Grayson County that ended 66-54.
The Raiders opened the game with 9 points in the first quarter, but Grayson led 14-9 going into the second. Trinity tried to cut the gap by making 2 threes as part of their 10 points in the second. Grayson led 29-19 at halftime, and Trinity came out in the third quarter determined not to let them run away with the lead. Both teams scored 15 in the quarter, so Grayson led by 10 at 44-34 going into the final quarter. Hayden Aull made 3 threes in the fourth to contribute to the scoring battle that ensued. Trinity scored 20 points to Grayson’s 22, and the game ended 66-54.
Leading the Raiders in scoring was Aull with 5 total threes and 21 points. Harrison Barnett followed behind with 12 points. Will Hernandez scored 10 on the night as well.
