The All “A” Classic had more action today as Owensboro Catholic had a blowout victory over Cloverport and Trinity lost a tough battle against McLean County.
OCHS 95, Cloverport 39
Owensboro Catholic had 5 players score in double digits in their 95-39 blowout against Cloverport. Luke Beickman scored 15 points in the first quarter to help Catholic begin the pressure early and amassed a 29-8 lead going into the second quarter. They didn’t stop there as they scored another 23 in the second quarter to give them a 52-17 lead at halftime. Despite their big lead, the Aces came out hot in the third quarter and easily put up another 25 points in the quarter. They cruised to the finish in the final quarter with another 18 points to close out the game 95-39.
Beickman went on to lead the team’s scoring with 22 points. Solly Smith had the next highest points with 19 during the game. Davyn Randolph had 13 points for himself while Tutt Carrico and Dre’mail Carothers scored 10 points each as well.
McLean Co. 59, THS 45
Hayden Aull had a 20-point performance in Trinity’s 59-45 defeat against McLean. Trinity led early on with a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. McLean closed the gap in the second quarter by outsourcing THS 16-11 to have a 1-point lead at 24-23 at halftime. In the second quarter McLean extended their lead slightly to 39-32. With the lead still within reach, Trinity fought back with 13 points and a pair of three pointers by Aull and Nolan Huff in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to close the gap as Mclean took the win 59-45.
Aull’s 20 points led the team in scoring, and he had 3 of the team’s 5 three-pointers as well. Following behind in scoring was Cole Boarman and Will Hernandez with 7 points each.
