Boys’ Basketball recap (Jan. 29): OCHS

Owensboro Catholic bounced back from their early exit at the All “A” tournament by having four players score in the double digits in their comfortable 71-58 win over Webster County. With this win the Aces moved to 14-4 on the season.

They had a commanding start to the game as a balanced scoring effort gave OCHS a 17-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. Webster’s offense found their rhythm in the second quarter as they matched Catholic’s 15 points in the quarter. The Aces went into halftime still with a comfortable lead at 32-23. OCHS continued to ride their momentum in the third quarter as 3 three pointers helped them outscore Webster 20-16. Webster made a final push in the fourth quarter with 19 points to try and claw their way back in the dying moments, but Owensboro Catholic met them on the scoresheet with 19 of their own to close out the win at 71-58. 

Leading the scoring for the Aces was Tutt Carrico with 19 points. Following behind was Solly Smith with 2 threes contributing to his 16 points. Luke Beickman was next on stat sheet with 15 points and a 100% FT% after shooting 6 of 6 from the line. Waryn Ebelhar had 2 three pointers to go with his 11 points on the night as well.
