Daviess County had a massive blowout win over Fort Campbell while Apollo and Trinity, who played their make-up game against Butler Co., suffered losses on the road.
Trigg Co. 64, AHS 54
Apollo put up a strong effort in their 64-54 loss to Trigg County.
The game started out evenly as both teams put up 13 in the first quarter to get their offense moving. Apollo fell behind in the second as they only scored 12 points to Triggs 22 to go into halftime trailing 35-25. The Eagles pushed back in the third as they scored 16 points, but they couldn’t cut the lead down as Trigg scored another 17. The battle continued into the fourth quarter as both teams scored 12 in the final quarter, and Trigg took the win at 64-54.
Leading the scoring for the Eagles was Luke Jarboe who scored 14 and shot 7 of 8 from the free throw line, and Eli Willaims who scored 14 points from 4 threes and a field goal. Kobe Kelly followed behind with his 11 points on the night.
DCHS 85, Fort Campbell 27
Daviess County moved to 16-4 on the season after their 87-27 blowout win over Fort Campbell.
DC established dominance early on in the game as they held a 21-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. They continued to run up the score as they put up another 29 points in the second quarter while holding Fort Campbell to just 7. The Panthers didn’t hold back in the second half as they held Fort Campbell to just 14 points in the final two quarters to win 85-27.
Leading the scoring for the Panthers was DeAaron Watkins with 20 points. Gage Phelps followed close behind with 18 points and shot 5 of 5 on free throws. Jonathan Moss scored 16 points on the night as well.
Butler Co. 86, THS 38
Trinity played their make-up game against Butler County that was originally canceled on Dec. 9, and they suffered a tough 86-38 loss.
Trinity fell behind early as Butler held them to 6 points to lead 21-6 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw THS fall behind further as they scored 9 to Butler’s 26 points to go into halftime at 47-15. Trinity found more success on offense as they scored 13 points in the third quarter and 10 in the fourth, but Butler went on to win the game 86-38.
Leading the Raiders in scoring was Hayden Aull with 11 points. Grant Howard followed behind with 5 points.
