A city-county matchup pitted the Eagles up against the Panthers in a game that saw Daviess County leave their home court with a comfortable 76-42 win.
Daviess County got the ball rolling early as they secured a 20-13 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Panthers’ defense in the second quarter held AHS to just 7 points. An all-around scoring effort by DCHS netted them 19 in the second quarter to give them a 39-20 cushion going into halftime. After already having outscored the Apollo 15-8 in the third quarter, Daviess County didn’t let any lead hold them back as they continued to score 22 in the fourth quarter. The Eagles were able to find success on offense as well and scored 14 with the help of 2 three-pointers by Eli Williams, The final score was 76-42 and DCHS continued their win streak on to 11 in a row.
Leading the Panthers in scoring was Gage Phelps with 22 points on the night and a high FT% shooting 6 of 7. Jonathan Moss followed behind with 16 points and 2 three-pointers. Ayden Ayer scored 13 points, and DeAaron Watkins scored 10 as well.
Williams scored 15 to lead the Eagles in scoring with all of his points coming from his 5 three-pointers. Luke Jarboe had the next highest points with 9.
