Jerrick Williams will continue his football career into college after signing to play for KWC. Williams recently finished his final high school season that saw him help Owensboro make yet another appearance in the semifinals of the state tournament. His overall high school record was 44-11 as a Red Devil.

Signing to KWC was a testament to his hard work, as he was plagued by injuries for some of his high school career. Due to this, he never imagined himself making it to the college level, he said.

“You know it’s kind of crazy because I never really imagined myself being able to get here,” he said. “My sophomore year, I had two broken feet. Then in my junior year I hurt my knee. Just being able to play in college is extremely exciting.”

The biggest benefit of staying home in Owensboro in Williams’ eyes is that he gets to stay close to his best friend: his dad. Williams also said he chose KWC because he believes in Coach Tyrone Young Jr. and what he’s been doing with the program.

“I chose KWC because I truly believe in Coach Young,” he said. “I feel like Coach Young will put me in a position to succeed the most. I like what he’s building at KWC, and I want to be a part of that. It’s a big time to become part of a culture that’s building. When you make it to the top, it’s much sweeter.”

As he leaves behind high school athletics, Williams said the thing he’ll miss the most are his coaches.

“I think I’ll probably miss my coaches the most,” he said. “Getting familiar with new coaching staff is not always the easiest. I feel like I’ll embrace it, but I’ll miss my coaches as well.”
