Owensboro was the only team to pick up a win as Daviess County, Apollo and Trinity all lost their respective matchups.
Dawson Springs 65, AHS 61
Apollo went head-to-head against Dawson Springs in a close match that saw Apollo just barely fall short of getting the win. AHS had a small 17-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, but fell behind in the second and third quarters and were behind 51-41. The Eagles scored 20 points in the final quarter to close the gap, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead and Apollo lost 65-61.
Leading the scoring for the Eagles was Luke Jarboe with 18 points on the night. Following behind was Eli Williams with 12 points, Tate Powers with 11 points and Max Johnson with 10 points.
Evansville Central, IN, 72, DCHS 68
Daviess County also had a close match end unfavorably as they lost 72-68 against Evansville Central. DCHS started the game off with the advantage after an 18-11 lead at the end of the first half. Evansville Central took the lead going into halftime at 32–31. The Panthers were then outscored in the third quarter and fell behind. They kept it close in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t take the lead before the clock ran out and lost 72-68.
Leading scoring for the Panthers was DeAaron Watkins with a 20-point performance. Gage Phelps and Jonathan Moss both scored in the double digits as well with 17 and 16 points respectively.
OHS 64, Warren Central 50
Owensboro had a comfortable 64-50 victory over Warren Central that saw two players put up at least 20 points. OHS had a firm grip on the lead from start to finish.
Dayshaun Sanders and Keaton Hughes led the team’s scoring efforts with 21 and 20 points respectively. Michael Acton had 12 points on the night as well.
Breckinridge County 70, THS 55
Trinity had a tough outing on the road as they lost 70-55 against Breckinridge County.
Leading the scoring for the Raiders was Hayden Aull with 18 points. Following behind was Bransen Howard with 14 points.
