Owensboro Catholic finished out the Southwire Holiday Classic with a win while Owensboro and Trinity suffered losses to close out their respective tournaments.
Evansville Reitz Memorial, IN 68, OHS 53
Owensboro were defeated in their final game of the Henderson Chevrolet, Buick, GMC Classic 68-53 against Evansville Reitz Memorial. OHS started off on the backfoot after trailing 19-14 at the end of the first quarter. Reitz had the slight advantage going into halftime with a scoreline of 31-27. In the third quarter Owensboro kept up with Reitz in scoring, but they were outscored in the final quarter 19-13 and couldn’t close the gap. The final score was 68-53.
Leading the Red Devils in scoring was Dayshaun Sanders with 16 points. Following behind was Keaton Hughes with 14 points during the game.
OCHS 54, Rock Creek Academy, IN 48
Owensboro Catholic closed out the Southwire Holiday Classic with a comfortable 54-48 win over Rock Creek Academy. Catholic started out slightly behind as Rock Creek held a 15-12 lead. OCHS held Rock Creek to only 4 points in the second quarter to go into halftime with the lead at 25-19. The Aces extended their lead to 43-29 by the end of the third quarter after outscoring Rock Creek 18-10 in the quarter. The final quarter was the highest scoring quarter for both teams as Catholic scored 22 points to Rock Creek’s 19 points to secure the win at 54-48.
Leading the Aces in scoring was Luke Beickman with a 25-point performance. Beickman also finished with a high FT% as he shot 10 of 11 from the line. Tutt Carrico had the next highest points with 13 throughout the game.

Trinity played two games to close out play in the Burgin Winter Classic. Yesterday they began the tournament with a 76-40 defeat against Shawnee. Today, they were defeated by hosts Burgin in their first game 60-52. The Raiders trailed for a majority of the game against Burgin, but they mounted a final push in the fourth quarter by outscoring Burgin 20-8. It was not enough to close the gap, Burgin walked away with the win. They lost their second game 57-38 against Louisville Collegiate.
Across all three games, Connor Hatfield led the team in scoring with 25 points total. Ian Roby had the second highest points with 23 points.
