Volleyball recap (Oct. 3): AHS, DCHS, OHS, OCHS

City-county games highlighted the day as Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic faced off in a rivalry match while Apollo took on Daviess County.

AHS 3, DCHS 0

Apollo took down Daviess County 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-15) to secure their third district win. Individual stats for DCHS are currently unavailable. 

Ahalia Ramirez set the team up with 34 assists as well as having one kill, one block and nine digs. Jennifer Lee led the E-gals in scoring with 13 kills and one block. Kaley and Kelsey Dickinson held down the defense with 13 and 14 digs respectively. 

OHS 3, OCHS 2

Owensboro narrowly beat Owensboro Catholic 3-2 (16-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-13, 15-12) in a match that was forced into a fifth set. OCHS won the first two sets, and OHS came back to win the next two sets and forced the fifth set. OHS won the final set by three points to seal the victory. 

Leading scoring for the Lady Red Devils was Kiersten Taylor with 14 kills and eight digs. Chase Mather led the defense with 20 digs and nine kills and one ace on offense. Ava Fincher led the team in assists with 19 as well as having three kills, one ace and 12 digs. 

For the Lady Aces, Olivia Castlen led scoring with 19 kills and two blocks. Karsen Tipmore and Tyranda Stuart led on defense with 14 and 15 digs respectively. Kennedy Murphy set the team up with a whopping 49 assists during the match along with nine kills, two aces, two blocks and one.
