Coach’s thoughts
Daviess County head coach Matt Brannon:
Our goal this week is 2-0 in the district. We prepare all season to be playing our best football at the end of the year. We’re not concerned with what has happened up to this point, good or bad. We have focused all week on correcting mistakes we made last week and continuing to keep the energy level high at practice. We’ve been off this week for fall break, and I feel that we have been very focused at practice with minimal distractions all week.
Henderson County is our biggest game of the year. They have consistently dominated our district and we know in order to win a district championship, the road runs through Henderson. They are a strong run team, but have an injury at QB and showed last week that their QB2 is able to throw the ball well. We must be prepared for both QBs and be able to minimize our mistakes to give ourselves a chance to win. They play tough defense and we will have to be efficient on offense. We must be aggressive and push the ball vertically down the field to soften the box and give our run game a chance to get going.
Edmonson County, 1-6 (Class 2A, District 2)
at Owensboro Catholic, 7-0 (Class 2A, District 2)
Highlights
Owensboro Catholic continues their impressive season in a match that should go smoothly for them as Edmonson have scored only two touchdowns in their last two matches.
Last match
Edmonson: Lost 8-37 against Fort Campbell
Owensboro Catholic: Won 57-7 against Todd County Central
Coach’s thoughts:
Owensboro Catholic head coach Jason Morris:
We’re trying to treat every game the same and respect every opponent. We understand that we have to take it one game at a time to be able to reach our goals.
Edmonson likes to use multiple formations to run their running back as much as possible. He’s a good and talented running back who can get loose on you if you’re not ready for him. We’re going to have to do everything we can to bottle him up.
