This state appearance was the first for everyone except for Reynolds and Salamah. Head coach Brandon Reynolds said the first trip to the state tournament for any golfer is always special.
“The first trip is always an eye-opening experience,” he said. “There’s more people watching, ropes up on the putting green and the practice tees are a lot different than in normal tournaments. Then you add greens that are 13 on the stimp meter, and it’s a big deal.”
Despite the mounting pressure, Reynolds felt that his team represented their school and their city exceptionally.
“Our girls struggled some, but they maintained their composure and represented Daviess County High School and the city of Owensboro very well I feel like.”
