The Lady Devils and Lady Raiders filled up the books on Tuesday night, as they scored 17 and 16 runs in their respective home wins.

Owensboro vs Edmonson County

The Lady Devils were able to turn things around on Tuesday after back-to-back district losses, winning 17-9 in a slugfest with Edmonson County at home.

The Lady Cats were able to get on the board right away, as a pair of two-out doubles gave them a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first. However, Owensboro got three straight singles to start the half inning, with the final single by senior K’Asia Palmer plating a pair to make it a 2-1 game.

Two more singles brought across two more runs later in the inning, with junior Ashleigh Howard and sophomore Kirsten Tindle both plating a run. The Lady Devils didn’t stop there either, as a two-out rally led to RBI singles from freshman Reese Boswell, sophomore Addison Hill and junior Sophia Moorman as well as an RBI double from Palmer to take an 8-1 lead into the second.

Owensboro never looked back from then on, scoring every single inning en route to the 17-9 home win over the Lady Cats. Hill and sophomore Kaysi Burden led the way with three RBIs each, while Howard, Palmer and sophomore Alyssa Rhineburger had a pair each and Boswell, Tindle, Moorman and freshman Mercedes Allgood chipped in one apiece.

Tindle picked up the win in her five-inning start, allowing one earned run—five total—on seven hits, no walks and five strikeouts. Rhineburger tossed the last two innings, allowing four unearned runs on four hits, a walk and three strikeouts.

The Lady Devils improved to 8-16 overall with the win, as they now have a day off before traveling to take on Ohio County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Trinity (Whitesville) vs Ohio County

The Lady Raiders were on fire offensively on Tuesday, snapping a three-game losing streak with a 16-6 short-game win over Ohio County at home.

Trinity got off to a strong start, getting a leadoff single from sophomore Madison McDaniel and a one-out double from senior Abby Payne to grab the first run of the game. An RBI single from seventh grader Sophie Hatfield and an error the following at-bat plated two more runs, helping the Lady Raiders take a 3-0 lead into the second.

The Lady Eagles managed to get one back in the top of the second, but Trinity would go on to score at least two runs every inning the rest of the way in order to grab the 16-6 win.

Sophie and junior Kylie Hatfield led the way at the plate with three RBIs each, while Abby and sophomore Sarah Payne had a pair each and senior Allie Graham, senior Allie Barnett, junior Georgia Howard, McDaniel and seventh grader Ella Morris all had one each.

Graham picked up the win in her 4 ⅔ innings start—having allowed six earned runs on nine hits and two walks—while Sophie Hatfield came in to get the final out of the game. The Lady Raiders improved to 12-16 overall with the win, as they now have a few days off before taking on Hopkins County Central at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
