Trinity (Whitesville) struggled offensively in a loss to Butler County on Friday, while Apollo was able to string together runs late to top Muhlenberg County.

Trinity (Whitesville) vs Butler County

The Lady Raiders were unable to string together enough offense on Friday, falling to Butler County 10-2 at home.

The Lady Bears came right out of the gates looking to set the tone for the game, taking advantage of a pair of errors and scoring four runs to take a 4-0 lead into the second inning. It was in the bottom half of the second that Trinity (Whitesville) got their first run of the game on a solo home run from senior Allie Graham, but they wouldn’t score again until the bottom of the seventh and ultimately lost 10-2.

Senior Allie Barnett took the loss in her three-inning start, allowing two earned runs—six total—on four hits and a walk while striking out two. Graham was joined by sophomore Madison McDaniel in leading the charge offensively, as they were responsible for the lone RBIs of the night.

Trinity falls to 11-15 overall with the loss, as they now take a few days before returning to action on Monday on the road against Breckinridge County at 5:30 p.m.

Apollo vs Muhlenberg County

The E-gals backed up a strong performance by senior Emmie Bullington in the circle on Friday, getting some late offense to defeat Muhlenberg County 2-1.

A solo home run for the Lady Mustangs set Apollo back midway through the game, as it wasn’t until the fourth inning that Muhlenberg County was able to claim a 1-0 lead. The E-gals responded swiftly though, as a one-out double from freshman Taylor Clark led to an RBI triple from junior Mallory Velotta that tied things up at 1-1 with one down in the bottom of the fifth.

The very next batter senior Morgan Julian grounded out, but the run scored and Apollo had themselves a 2-1 lead heading into the sixth. This would be all Bullington would need to close the door too, finishing the game having allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk while striking a pair in seven innings to grab the win.

Julian and Velotta led the way at the plate with a pair of RBIs, while Clark was the only player to record a pair of hits on the day. The E-gals move to 11-8 overall with their third straight win, as they’ll take this momentum into a road district game with Owensboro at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
